A sax player who sings a bit.
This is probably how Jason would have described himself when he started out, but he can now add recording artist, musician and front man.
Jason was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne and as a boy dreamt of travelling the world playing music. This dream started to become a reality when one Christmas morning Jason was given a saxophone by his parents. He immediately locked himself away for hours at a time, and with total dedication began to hone his craft.
By the age of 21, when his taste for adventure took him to Thailand, Jason was a highly accomplished musician, able to support himself through regular gigs with a rhythm and blues band in Bangkok.
Moving next to New York, personal highlights of his Big Apple year included playing with Blue Lou, of The Blues Brothers fame and, at an Emmy Awards party, singing with the legendary Tony Bennett.
Much of the next 10 years Jason spent in Munich, Germany, then Marbella, Spain, where he performed to growing crowds night after night. He soon realised he could bowl an audience over not only with his saxophone playing, but also – indeed especially – with his voice.
By the time he moved back to Newcastle, Jason the singer was in full flow, and a love of the Rat Pack classics meant he was destined to seek out big band accompaniment and star in his own theatre shows.
“Once in a blue moon, someone comes along that has that extra talent. Jason Isaacs is one such artist. He embodies a raw talent with a stunning vocal range, charisma, cheekiness and is a good mover to boot! Watch out for this guy, I think he’s going places.”
Roger Bruce – West End Producer
In 2010, Jason’s wife secretly entered him into ITV’s search to find Britain’s Favourite Crooner through the Alan Titchmarsh Show. Jason dutifully headed down to London – and won!
Loved by audiences not only for his fabulous vocals, but an easy ability to charm and a great sense of fun, Jason has cracked the Edinburgh Festival numerous times with sell-out shows at major venues winning five star reviews.
Responding to popular demand, he is now taking his performances further afield.
Backed by the dynamic big-band sound of the Ambassadors of Swing, Jason warmly invites you to share a night of great music. Come and join the party with the nation’s favourite self-taught sax player who happens to sing a bit…
